Diffusion-Convection from Ferziger and Peric

I'm currently working on linear equation solvers on GPU's using Java.
I have working versions of CG and BiCGStab in Java and Cuda with a quite nice speedup when Cuda is used(depending on the size of the equation system).
If you want to know more about it let me know.
For validation I have written a small program to solve the diffusion-convection equation(one dimensional) with finite differences as stated in Fertziger, Peric.
It works quite well but if I try to increase the number of grid points higher than 100, the equation system is not converging anymore. Has anyone suggestions regarding this?
