Automotive intake manifold CFD modeling with resonance.
I have a project I would like to do. I want to design and optimize an intake manifold for a 4 stroke piston engine.
I want to optimize inertial packing capability and pressure drop in the manifold while the engine is at 7000 RPM.
I understand this model will have to be transient unsteady.
I have the timing events for the valves opening and closing, so I can set the pressure boundary conditions at the manifold exit ports using a pressure vs. time profile. What should my pressure BC be assuming the valve goes from open to closed in a sinusoidal fashion?
I will be shooting for a Y+ of 1-2
I want to optimize port diameter and plenum volume for maximum flow into the intake ports.
I will be using CFX 13.0, what is the best way to go about modeling this?
