Research Associate at any institute

I am Hassan Ghassemi, Ph.D. at Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering graduated from Yokohama National University, Japan, in March 1997. Then, I have employed as an Assistant Researcher at IHI Company Japan, Ship and Marine Technology Dept. from 1997/4-1998/3. Presently, I joined to Yokohama National University for Assistant Researcher under my Professor Lab. I would like to find a Job anywhere and would like to live there for long time. I am very interested to find a job in research institute or university regarding to my specialty. I have published some papers on referee journals and conferences. My Ph.D. thesis was: Propeller performance and its cavitation prediction by potential surface panel method. I worked also at IHI Company for Propeller-Rudder System Performance. My M.Sc. thesis was also about Design of Fishing Vessel that I finished at Technical University of Gdansk, Poland, in 1993. My B.Sc., I have graduated from Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, in 1990. I am 33 years old, born on 1964 Iran, Married -------------------------------------------------- Education Background: 1. B.Sc. Sharif University of Technology, Tehran-Iran,

1990/2/ Mechanical Engineering 2. M.Sc. Technical University of Gdansk, Poland

1993/6/30 Naval Architecture 3. Ph.D. Yokohama National University, Japan

1997/3/26 (as mentioned above)

Job Experience: 1. Instructor at Iran Oil Institute 1.5 years 1990/2-1991/8 2. Researcher at IHI Co. One year 1997/4-1998/3

Referee Published papers in Journals: 1. Journal of Society of Naval Architects of Japan, Vol. 178, 1995. 2. Journal of Kansai Society of Naval Architects of Japan, Vol. 227, 1996. And about 7 papers published in Conferences about Creep Phenomenon, Stress-Strain Analysis, Fishing Vessel, Propeller Performance, Cavitation Prediction, and Propeller-Rudder System.

Since you have a PhD and are working in your own research field, my feeling is that it's better to work as an assistant researcher and work on the propeller-rudder system for a while so that you can make some real contribution to this field instead of looking for a job anywhere. Maybe you can get some advice from your professor. I think, at the PhD level, your professor should provide you some positive suggestions.

THANKS FOR YOUR REPLY. YOU ARE RIGHT. MY PROF. TRIED VERY MUCH FROM LAST YEAR AND I HAVE GOT ONE YEAR TRAINING AT IHI COMPANY. NOW I AM AT YNU UNDER MY PROF. LAB. THIS TIME, JAPANESE ECONOMY IS NOT SO WELL AND TO WORK AT JAPAN IS NOT SO AVAIABLE TO FIND SOME JOB IN JAPAN. MY PROF. AND I TRIED TOO MUCH, BUT UNTIL NOW WE FAILED. I HOPE THAT IT COULD BE POSSIBLE TO FIND A JOB ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD. THANK YOU, HASSAN

Japan is one of the leading industrial countries in the world. I hope that the economic condition is only temporary. With the new government leadership, I think the condition will get better soon. To get out of this bad situation, the only way for the government to do is to invest more in CFD research instead of cutting back. To invest more in software development is the only way to make real progress. Mass production of hardware can easily get the nation into deep trouble. CFD deals with modeling and prediction of complex non-linear phenomenon. Therefore, investment in CFD will have positive impact on the national capability to deal with long term and short term complex economic problems. Maybe you are now inside the cavitation region of the propeller flow, but the mixing process will get you out of it ,sooner or later. The bad environment can only make people stronger. I really hope that you can convince the government to invest more in CFD at this point in time.

Thank you for your comment. I applied at SRI of Japan, with Cavitation projects and everything was OK.. the final problem was the financial difficulty and then failed. Now, we are some other way to cooperate with some host company. But presently, general speaking. some economic condition made bad financial problems.

Next, how do you know that I am working on..... Maybe you are now inside the cavitation region of the propeller flow... Look forward to hearing from you, if possible. Thank you,

Hassan

There is another way to make money, that is, if you can reduce cost, you can save money, thus you can make money. Japan has economic problem right now, because people have to pay the bill, they have to spend money. Japan needs oil ,so ships and tankers are very important means to get the oil to Japan. So, if one can make the propeller and rudder system run more efficiently, one can save a lot of money and thus make a lot of money. You see what I am trying to say? It takes a small amount of money to save a lot of money. So the issue is really : How to develop a more efficient propeller system to save Japan's economy. You see, by identifying your target clearly, you can move on to solve the problem. The middle-east oil, the Japan's economy and, the efficient design of a propeller system really put you and your professor in the unique position to change the future. A new patent application would definitely attract a lot of interest. Maybe you can spend a few minuites of your time to come up with some new patent ideas, to improve the propeller design and noise. People in water sports business probably are interested a better designed propeller. What do you think?
