Choosing Multiphysics for Electrostatics

I'm looking to simulate an electrostatics (well, near DC alternating current fields) setup and have been trying to find a free (preferred open source) package to get my feet wet. I've been looking at OpenFOAM and Elmer, but neither seems to really target electrostatics.

I was wondering if anyone had successfully used either package for this, or if anyone had any suggestions? My ideal solution would let me input a mesh of the environment with points at a fixed potential, and it would output an estimate of the potential throughout the environment.

Thanks,
Louis

Hi Lois,

I see this is a very old post, but did you ever have any success in OpenFoam with this?

I was able to get the built in example E&M cases to run, but ran into some trouble on a custom mesh.
