Long form of SOR
 
Anybody can tell me long form of SOR.. (SOR method) and what it is?

hi,

SOR stands for Successsive Over Relaxation. the value of variable is relaxed ie the amount decided by the parameter called relaxation parameter. for ex u(new)=u(new)*w+(1-w)*u(old). The optimum value of w for linear problems is 1.6 for non-linear problems the value of w is usually less than 1, about 0.6 -0.8 to prevent divergence because of non -linearities. bye
