Cd value for square cylinder

hello ppl

please help me....for a square cylinder(2D) the drag coefficient value comes to 2.1 . In the figure given below if i increase "L" and keep the "D" constant what will happen to the Cd value???? this is a 2D case.

L

any help is highly appreciated..

thanks in advance....

Re: Cd value for square cylinder

Do you mean how the Cd value will change from square cylinder (L=D) to rectangular cylinder (L=length, D=width) ? If so, then the following reference might be of your interest

S. Nitin and R.P. Chhabra, "Non-isothermal flow of a power law fluid past a rectangular obstacle (of aspect ratio 1 Ã- 2) in a channel: Drag and heat transfer", International Journal of Engineering Science, Volume 43, Issues 8-9, May 2005, Pages 707-720

There you can find data table for drag (table 1) and Nusselt number (table 2) for Re=5-40 at n=1 (newtonian fluids).

Re: Cd value for square cylinder

The Cd valud for unconfined flow past square cylinder at Re=10 is 4.063 (see Nitin and Chhabra, Int J Engineering Science, 43, pp 707-720, 2005).

For confined flow (blockage ratio: 1/8), Cd is 3.63 at Re=10 (see Dhiman et al., Int J Heat Mass Transfer, 48, 2005, Pages 4598-4614)

Hey don, please check the thesis and these papers.
