Thermo-Mechanical Analysis

Hi..

Kindly tell some references and citations for Thermo-Mechanical Analysis. Also tell how to handle thermo-mechanical Analysis using FEM in the solid region, when an high energetic beam (may be 1 GeV) is coming and hitting a solid made up of Steel having thickness 3-5 mm.

Re: Thermo-Mechanical Analysis

This is a heat flux input, you have to convert the 1 GeV to Jouls and when you set your BC's this is the boundary condition heat input flux. Just read the instructions (Help files) of your FEM solver

Re: Thermo-Mechanical Analysis

I am not using any packages for solving this problem. I need constitutive relations used to solve this type of problem. I want to develop my own FEM solver.

There are two possible ways to answer your query 1- If you have a degree in science or engineering and you cannot formulate a simple Boundary Value problem of heat conduction then be honest with yourself and return your degree to whoever gave it to you, thank him and look for something else, something you understand and enjoy doing it. 2- If you are a Computer Science graduate, student,..etc the following book has a FORTRAN Code that you can scan, do some modifications and solve your problem (I do not know how if you were not initiatd in the science of Heat Transfer) Finite Element Analysis from Concepts to Applications David S Burnett (Addison Wesley)

Re: Thermo-Mechanical Analysis

Mr. Ahmed.. To be frank whether you really understand the question which I asked and the gravity of the problem..You are talking regarding conduction problem (even a school student can solve this regardless of science or engineering degree). First read the question carefully before answering anything. Its just not giving a reference of some book and telling about degree.

If you want to know what the real problem look the book "Introduction to Non-linear ThermoMechanics" by Andrzej Sluzalec, Springer NY and refer chapter 4. page 35-44.

If you are really a good academecian means you should teach something you know. Otherwise you should not reply. Don't reply rubbish like this in future however great you should be.

we already solved the conjugate problem (I don't know whether you really know this or not). It is Thermo-mechanical analysis.. means we want to solve for both thermal and Mechanical Stress and finally find the total stress.

We solved this problem and we are interested to discuss postprocessing.

Re: Thermo-Mechanical Analysis

Two days ago you were asking how to apply a boundary condition Yesterday you asked what equation to use, since you plan to write a FEM programme Today you say you have solved the Prolem This is indeed a MIRACLE Keep on the good work

Re: Thermo-Mechanical Analysis

Asking how to handle a thermo-mechanical analysis problem is not meaning how to apply the boundary conditions. Eventhough we solve the problem there is not always a unique way for attacking any problem.(If U are a numerical person U will very well know this). I want to discuss several alternative ways and techniques.

U are always meant for a simple conduction problem, which is not the problem I am discussing for. Refer the book I mentioned.

Please do not reply if U know exactly know about the problem and waste unnecessarily others time by writing about MIRACLE and DEGREE..

Better you stop discussing.
