Dear Friends,

I am looking at low subsonic flows and the possible ways of prescribing variables at the subsonic inlet/outlet. Leaving aside, characteristic based BCs, if we were to specify variables and extrapolate variables at the inlet and outlet, what choices are commonly employed. I know that the static pressure is prescribed at outlet and it is extrapolated at inlet. The three variables that are specified include Po, To and angle of attack (among other possible choices). Isn't the choice of rho, u and v when the inlet mach number is known a more natural one, with pressure extrapolated from the interior ?

Thanks and Regards,

Ganesh
