Future of CFD

What do you think about the future of CFD?

Where is CFD heading?

Will there be a need for CFD in future when we will have enough computer power to solve almost all the problems of CFD?

What are the emerging problems of CFD?

Re: Future of CFD

DNS on large scale problems at high Reynolds is the next step. With current computer technology we are talking 1000's (based on moores law) of years before chip's become fast enough (that's if silicon chips can get theoretically get this quick!) to solve large scale high Reynolds number flows using DNS.

Now if the general scientific population can get their hands on some of the latest very high speed computer processing technologies used by the like's of GCHQ & the Pentagon to crack data encryption, we'll probably be able to solve the CFD challenges a lot quicker. Optical computing looks like the new direction for fast computing.

CFD will just be used more if the computer technology advances.
