Good evening,

there is a certain number of threads on the forum regarding snappyHexMesh, the snap issue over edges/corners and featureEdgeMesh :

http://www.cfd-online.com/OpenFOAM_D...tml?1233826296

http://www.cfd-online.com/OpenFOAM_D...tml?1231742783
http://www.cfd-online.com/OpenFOAM_D...tml?1228815056

Would it be possible to post an example case in order to clarify the usage of featureEdgeMesh / it would be very helpful.

Best regards,

PO

Mattijs,

is there a way to extract the edges from the STL file in order to feed it as the eMesh file ?

In short no. It doesn't make sense to extract based on an angle - this would be replicating the 'resolveFeatureAngle' setting in snappyHexMeshDict. It would be useful though if we could extract and then graphically edit feature lines and save the result. Know any tool?

Send a message via MSN to owayz
Can anyone please help me about how to create an emesh file using gmsh. Or the format of an emesh file would be of great help as well.

Depends on what criterion to use for the features? Angle? Hand-selected set of features?

well, I have to mesh a boat's bulb with winglets. (more or less like tho one in the picture, which was taken from the web..)

the major problem is in the fin-bulb junction and expecially in the winglets-bulb junction. any ideas?

thanks a lot,
DL
