OF 1.6-ext interDyMFoam damBreakWithObstacle tutorial crashes

Hi all,

after recently switching from OF 1.7.x to 1.6-ext, I'm now struggling with some problems running the tutorials for the interDyMFoam solver. At least the damBreakWithObstacle tutorial crashes for OF-1.6-ext in serial and parallel mode, whereas everything runs fine in OF 1.7.x. All bug fixes (at least for the master branch) are included in my current OF version.

Coming to the errors messages:

1. In dambreakWithObstacle (running via Allrun), I get (in single and parallel mode)
Quote:

Selected 16 cells for refinement out of 95858.

From function void polyMesh::initMesh()
in file meshes/polyMesh/polyMeshInitMesh.C at line 82
Truncating neighbour list at 295942 for backward compatibility
Refined from 95858 to 95970 cells.
Selected 6 split points out of a possible 7672.
Segmentation fault
The problem seem to be the split points, as until the crash appears, always 0 split points have been selected.

2. Running the floatingObject tutorial, I get
Quote:

--> FOAM Warning :
From function void setFieldType(const fvMesh& mesh, const labelList& selectedCells,Istream& fieldValueStream)
in file setFields.C at line 102
Field alpha1 not found
Why has the folder structure in 0 (0.org, setSubset) been re-organised in comparison to 1.7.x?

Put it here https://sourceforge.net/apps/mantisbt/openfoam-extend.

Hello,

You can take a look at recent runs of the OpenFOAM-1.6-ext test harness:

http://openfoam-extend.sourceforge.n...ate=2011-05-24

One can see that this specific tutorial is running fine under OpenFOAM-1.6-ext, using various OS flavors, including Ubuntu 10.10.

Please take a look at my comments on the Bug tracking system for OpenFOAM-1.6-ext.

Martin,

Doesn't the test-harness run each tutorial for only one time-step?

mbeaudoin May 25, 2011 12:50

Yup, your are right.

Running this tutorial for more than one time step on my system, I can reproduce the problem as well, at t=0.0280313, with a nice Segmentation fault.

So there is indeed a problem with this tutorial.

Dear colleagues,

is there any update on this issue?

Best regards,
Aleksey.

P.S. All my trials to use dynamicRefineFvMesh possibilities in OF-1.6-ext failed due to segmentation fault on early steps of calculation.
