Install OpenFOAM 2.4.0 on Mac OS X

Hi, I'm new to OpenFOAM, first-timer here. May I know if there is a guide to install OpenFOAM 2.4.0 on my Mac OS X? I'm running on OS X Yosemite 10.10.5.

So I follow the instructions on http://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/In...OpenFOAM_2.3.x, but change "2.3.x" to "2.4.x" in the codings?

Quick answer: In theory, yes.
In practice, you might also get an error with db48, which is somewhat explained here: http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ope...lems-db48.html

Hi,

I have the following error while running: sudo port install boost +openmpi

"Error: org.macports.build for port boost returned: command execution failed"

Attached is the log file.

I don't have Mac, so I'll have to quote Alexey:

Well, in general, I recommend "whatever works". Macports should help you to manage third-party software, yet, if you have the same problem, it does not.

So you have several choices:
a) use Google to find a solution (if there is any)
b) post a problem (for example) here; wait for a person, who had the same problem and solved it, to read your message and post his solution
c) (this is classic) reinstall Macports and hope this time everything will be fine
d) try Homebrew
