To install OF-1.7.x on Scientific Linux
 

Hello,

Can anyone suggest me how to install OF-1.7.x on Scientific Linux 6.3 (It's based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux) ?

Does it have to be OpenFOAM 1.7.x?
Anyway, currently I'm not aware of any set of instructions that explain how to install 1.7.x on SL 6.3, but I'm guessing that you can do the following:

1. Do step #1 from here: http://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/In...HEL#CentOS_6.3
2. Then follow these instructions: http://www.openfoam.org/archive/1.7.1/download/git.php
3. When it comes to building ParaView, don't. Instead, add the EPEL repositories and install the ParaView version that is supplied in that repository.
4. Then edit the file "$WM_PROJECT_DIR/bin/paraFoam" and replace the file extensions ".OpenFOAM" to ".foam" and save.

Hi Gitesh,

On #3, instead of building the ParaView version that comes with OpenFOAM's "ThirdParty-1.7.1" package, I advise you to install the latest ParaView version that is provided in the EPEL repositories: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/EPEL

On #4, the idea is that for using the ParaView version that is installed from the EPEL repository, you'll need to do some small changes to the file "bin/paraFoam" that should be located in the folder "OpenFOAM-1.7.x". The full path should be revealed if after you build OpenFOAM 1.7.x, you run:
