Hi Foamers,

if I try to install OF 2.2.1 in /opt/, as suggested, the environment variables are not up-dated.
I add ...

Code:
source /opt/OpenFOAM-2.2.1/etc/bashrc
in my users bashrc file and, after typing
Code:
source $HOME/.bashrc
in a shell, print all environment variables with
Code:
printenv | sort
to check.

All environment variables are still set on old values: OF 2.1.1 installation folder in $HOME/OpenFOAM/OpenFOAM-2.1.1/...

I could manually adjust them but that is not the solution I am looking for.
Does anybody know how to fix that problem?

Greetings Aylalisa,

I think you didn't read completely the official instructions, namely the section "Setting environment variables for alternative locations": http://www.openfoam.org/download/source.php#x6-31000

Best regards,
Bruno

Hello Bruno,

this time I really read all the instructions. I will describe the situation more clearly once I am back at work. To be able to work with the new version I've finally installed OF 2.2.1 in my home directory because I was just not able to made the version, that I've originally installed in opt/ directory running. I still have a lack of linux skills but owing to that instruction it seemed quite clear what to do. However I've failed. I can work now but I would like to be able to make the /opt/ directory installation running too!

Best regards,
Aylalisa
