Hello,

I have installed openfoam211 in a cluster with red hat linux os. Now I created a user directory and copied that icoFoam application, renamed it and changed to Make/file and started compiling. I got the following errors. Does anyone has any clue what is going on. The error message is attached in a txt file.

Dear Pratap,

unfortunately to me the error message is not really comprehensive.
It seems as if there was some missing dependencies, but with my basic knowledge there is no certainty in that assumption.

But maybe it was one of the typical mistakes that causes the problem?
- make a wclean in the source directory of the solver before compiling
- make sure your compile goal in Make/options is $FOAM_USER_APPBIN instead of $FOAM_APPBIN

Maybe one of these already is sufficient to solve the problem?

Please let us know after you try so we know if others have to look for the solution...

Hello Linsen,

I have already tried wclean and wmake and have FOAM_USER_APPBIN, but still it does not work.

I am sure dependencies are not missing, since openfoam is working fine only when i compile my user applications then there is a problem.

Could it be caused by compiler version. Please let me know.

Greetings to all!

@cfdsat: Regarding the GCC version, use this command:
Code:
gcc --version
And check against the compatibility matrix available here: http://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/In...ibility_Matrix

Which RHEL version are you using on the cluster?

Best regards,
Bruno

Hello Bruno,

The gcc version is 4.1.2 and red hat version is Red Hat enterprises Linux server release 5.8.

Looking at the compatability website, I need higher version of gcc probably 4.5 version. But One thing I am not sure why gcc matters only when I am trying to compile user applications. Since I had no problem in the openfoam installation.

Please let me know in the meanwhile i will ask system admin to install higher gcc version.

Hi cfdsat,

Since it's RHEL 5.8, I'm guessing that they built OpenFOAM 2.1.1 with GCC 4.4.something. Try this:
Code:
gcc44 --version
g++44 --version
If those two commands work and give the version of GCC 4.4, then that was likely the version that was used.

I'm also guessing here that if the previous commands give a good output, then the proper OpenFOAM environment set-up scripts aren't installed in the cluster.
But it all depends on how exactly they installed OpenFOAM in the cluster.

Best regards,
Bruno
