Dear All,

I would like to run OF on Win7 from a USB stick with a live distribution of Linux (presumably Kubuntu).
I cannot find the image (iso) file in Internet. Indeed the instructions on this web page http://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/In...ated/USB-Stick redirect me to a page where I cannot find any iso files. Can someone provide me the necessary link for this .iso file?

Thank you in advance,
Luca

Greetings Luca,

The wiki page you're referring to is this: http://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/In...ated/USB-Stick (you had copied the link from your other post, but it gets broken in the process when we do that )

As the title implies - "Installation/Outdated/USB-Stick" - the page is outdated and is there only as an historic reference. The image is no longer available, due to some issues that occurred sometime ago: OF 1.6-ext Repository offline? post #51

Now, at this time, you've got at least two choices that I can remember about:
  1. You can use the CAELinux distribution and install it in a USB. The instructions for placing an ISO in a USB drive are pretty much similar to those on the outdated wiki page.
  2. You can install Kubuntu or any other Linux Distribution in an USB drive and then install whichever versions of OpenFOAM you want.
You could also try and wait for the upcoming 9th workshop in June: http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ope...b-croatia.html

Best regards,
Bruno

My students and I have been playing with CAELinux 2013 ISO last week and found it very interesting.
You can download it from http://sourceforge.net/projects/cael...s/CAELinux2013 and run it from USB, Virtual Machines, among others.
It includes OF 2.1.1 and many GUIs for preprocessing, already configured to work with OF. You can obviously add updates and other OF versions.
This is my suggestion.
Patricio

Also, I forgot to mention GeekoCFD by Alberto Passalacqua, in case you prefer OpenSuse.
