Hello

I have been attempting to install OpenFOAM-1.4.1 on an AIX 5.3 Machine. Taking suggestions from the forum postings I have been able to compile the static libraries libOpenFOAM.a and libfiniteVolume.a needed for my application.

As Matthias has reported the gnu linker does not work on AIX and the native linker needs to be used. I get linker errors when I try to link my application.

Are there any special linker flags I need to pass for the AIX linker if the code has been compiled by a gnu compiler?

Thanks
Shiva

Hi Daniel,

The gnu-binutils (through which we would like to use the gnu linker) cannot be used on the AIX system. The native linker is the only available option and this has been documented by IBM on their website.

I managed to compile my specific foam application by hand using static libraries. I will post details of this soon. I am still trying to figure out the IBM POE stuff to parallelize the application.

Thanks
Shiva

Hi foamers,

I really have a hard time with compiling openmpi on my IRIX.
Has anybody tried openmpi-1.2.6?

What mpi implentation do you use?

Regards,
Daniel

Hi Daniel,

I have used openmpi-1.2.3 on a Linux workstation and am using (trying to at least, have not successfully yet used) POE on the AIX 5.3.

I have no IRIX experience but would suggest to start a separate thread for IRIX as you may find better responses and it will be useful for future users as well, in terms of searching the forums

Best
Shiva
