Hi,

I am running Ubuntu 7.10 32-bit (Vista dualboot) and have a ssh-related problem, which solution I haven't found browsing forum posts. I cannot ssh into my machine (hostname is machine47), i.e. the command 'ssh machine47' returns

"ssh: connect to host machine47 port 22: Connection refused"

Consequently, I guess, the script 'foamSystemCheck' fails, returning the following error message:

"Checking basic system...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Shell: bash

Host: machine47

OS: Linux version 2.6.22-14-generic

User: miles

Checking networking...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Ping_machine47 Successful

Ping_localHost: Successful

Test_rsh: Unsuccessful, connection refused*

Test_ssh: Unsuccessful, connection refused*

FATALERROR: No remote shell available.

FoamX requires passwordless

'ssh' and/or 'rsh' to the current host.

Contact your system administrator if you intend

to run FoamX."

I would be very thankful if somebody could help me back on track.

Hi Miles!
Your problem is not with OF but with the configuration of ssh.
The pub keys that you generate should be in the authorized_keys file. In this way you can ssh to your machine opr other machines on the network. For more details:* google for ssh.

Djemai.

Thanks Djemai. The command 'sudo apt-get install ssh' solved the ssh configuration issue and OF installed fine.

If you are working locally and not using FoamX you don't need rsh/ssh.
