Hello,

I downloaded all packages I needed and installed them how described. Now I wanted to start with the cavity example in the turorial. FoamX works correctly and all settings can be made, but when I want to start paraFoam to check the generated mesh, as described in the tutorial I get the following error message:

$paraFoam $FOAM_RUN/tutorials/icoFoam cavity

/home/cfduser/OpenFOAM/OpenFOAM-1.4/bin/paraFoam: line 67: paraview: command not found

I guess it is an installation problem...

thank you for your help,

Jan

Do not know how to solve your problem, but try this in case folder:

touch case_name.foam

then

paraview

and select the "touched" file.

Hi K,

Thanks for the response.

Typed "touch cavity.foam" in the command line, which worked without a response. Then typing "paraview" brought up the following error:

bash: paraview: command not found

Any thoughts as to where to go next?

Regards, Bill

What does the command 'which paraview' return? Have you forgotten to install gcc, java and paraview packages in addition to the OpenFOAM general and platform-specific binary packages? Check out this[1] related thread.

Also, before running anything in OpenFOAM (paraFoam included), you need to source the appropriate bashrc file from the command line as specified in the README:

. $HOME/OpenFOAM/OpenFOAM-1.4/.OpenFOAM-1.4/bashrc
