Hi all

I'm trying to follow the instructions to perform the Ubuntu/Debian Pack Installation for OpenFoam 1.7.1 on Ubuntu 10.10

I've added the repository to sources.list as described and then tried apt-get update.

All my other repositories seem to update fine until it gets to the openfoam ones at which point it starts to error out, saying 403 Access Denied

I know that the proxy I'm going through requires NTLM authentication so I followed the instructions from the Linux user group on campus to to use NTLMAPS as an NTLM proxy. I'm new to Ubuntu and Linux in general so I'm not actually sure what that means or if it has anything to do with the problem but I thought I'd mention it in case it's relevant.

I've searched through the previous forum threads but everybody seems to have gotten further than this point before encountering problems. I'd appreciate any help you can offer.

Thanks

Marlan

Greetings Marian and welcome to the forum!

Mmm, it seems that either you caught the www.openfoam.com server offline at the time, or there is some issue with the firewall/proxy blocking the access to it.

So, the quickest and trouble free way to do it is to simply visit the repository at sourceforge.net here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/foam...maverick/main/

Then:
  • choose i386 or x86_64, depending on your installed Ubuntu;
  • download the two ".deb" files available inside the selected folder.
  • Once the downloads are complete, simply navigate your file structure and double-click on each file; it should open the "GDebi Package Installer" and from there you can install the packages with no additional problems, or so I hope.

Best regards and good luck!
Bruno
