Hello there.

I'd like to know if there's anyway to install OpenFOAM Ubuntu package in a machine with no internet connection.

Thanks

Did you try to copy the source pack from a USB disk?

You can download the source pack here:
http://www.openfoam.com/download/source.php

If you follow the instructions this should be no problem. Good luck

I recently had a similar predicament where I was trying to load OpenFOAM onto a machine that was not connected to the internet. The problem I ran into was that you can easily download and compile OpenFOAM source files, but getting dependences (Flex, Qt, etc...) is a pain in the neck. However, I found a really simple solution. This requires that you either have another machine that is connected to the internet and has the same version of Ubuntu installed (which was what I did) or you could use VirtualBox to virtually install a machine similar to the one you are trying to work with. There is a tool called APTonCD. Available at this link http://aptoncd.sourceforge.net/. You run the tool, and it allows you to create an APT repository from all the files currently installed via apt on your computer. This way, you merely load OpenFOAM on the machine that has the internet connection using APT, all dependencies are installed automatically, and then you use APTonCD to transfer this "custom" repository to the machine that does not have an internet connection. This is also a great way to transfer updates to the machine without an internet connection. Good Luck!

Dear Michael,

I have the same problem of installing OF offline. As you correctly mentioned get it with all dependencies is a pain in the neck! So i tried to do what you said about APTonCD. It turned out there is no more such software in sourceforge.
So, any suggestion?

Thanks,

Dear Saeed,

You can try to install OpenFOAM from the source package.
If you want the version 2.2.2 is very easy you need to download gcc, gmp, cmake, mpc and mpfr and after you will follow the instruction from : http://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/In...M-2.2.0/Ubuntu

I've already done for CentOs and my computer offline. It's ok on my computer now
