I would be very grateful for advice about exporting a mesh for use in benchmarking.

I want to use OpenFOAM/interFoam to reproduce/benchmark a 2D, two-phase flow simulation against a result from another code. As far as I know, meshes should be as similar as possible when benchmarking. However, I'm having a lot of trouble using the same mesh in both simulations. Here are my questions:

1. The easiest thing to do would be to use a different mesh for each code. How much of a problem would this be? Is it acceptable to call a comparison a "benchmark" if the meshes used for each code are different?

2. It is not possible to create meshes in the other code that will work for an OpenFOAM/interFoam simulation. The reason is that the other code creates its own meshes. They are not importable into OpenFOAM via any of the current mesh import functions. Also, I'm pretty sure the meshes aren't high-quality enough to result in convergence for an OpenFOAM simulation (I've attached an example).

So the only solution I can think of is to export an OpenFOAM mesh in a format that is identical to what the other code requires (an example of the mesh file the other code requires is attached in "mesh.txt"). Does anyone know how to do this?

Thank you.
