Hello,

I am trying to get a 2-D structured mesh in gmsh with the transfinite algorithm. The domain is square, but in order to implement a variety of boundary conditions, I have broken up the lower boundary into 3 segments. When I try to recombine the mesh to get a structured mesh, I get an error saying "Surface is transfinite but has 6 corners". Is there a way to get around this problem? I want my domain to look like the bottom boundary is just 1 line, but be able to apply different boundary conditions in different sections of the bottom boundary.

Thanks for your help!

Siddharth

Hi,

You bascially want to create a Transfinite Surface with 6 sides, right? if I understand your question correctly, it would be possible to divide your whole domain in three parts. Apart from that, I guess there is no way around it using gmsh.
Of course you can try to patch your domain afterwards with OpenFOAM or other utilities.

Best regards,

Kate

How we can create a spherical domain with a hole inside which is included in a unit cube in Gmsh?

Hi,
I want to generate a multi-block structured mesh with nodal information and boundary information (FEM mesh). Information that I required from Grid generator is (x,y) point information, connectivity matrix contains nodal index information of mesh and boundary patch that has nodal index or (x,y) information.

Aditional things I expect from grid generator is :
1) Wall orthogonality correcting algorithm
2) Mesh smoothing algorithm.
3) User defined stretching functions through points or function to sides of blocks
4) quality check (optional)

I'm relatively new to open source grid generators. I'm learning Gmsh, Where I used Transfinite command to generate a structured mesh. I couldn't find good smoothing algorithm and wall orthogonality correcting algorithms. Please give me whether it has such features or any other Open source mesh generators have such features?

Thank you.
