Hi FOAMERS;
A quick question!! Any idea how to develop a ".stl" file for snappyHexMesh utility from a ".RAW" file? I have a .RAW file from a micro CT image. Want to test the snappyHexMesh over this microCT image. Glad if anyone could share their ideas over this!! Thanks; Saideep |

Hi,
I would try if you can view your RAW-file in Paraview, if Paraview Shows your file, paraview or any other VTK-based Software will Support you in converting to many formats like STL http://www.vtk.org/doc/release/6.2/h...STLWriter.html http://www.paraview.org/Wiki/The_ParaView_Tutorial if I am right you can use "python Scripting" to tell Paraview to write out your file using vtkSTLWriter just my 2 Cents elvis |

Hi Elvis;
Thanks for your reply. Actually i tried to open the .raw file in Paraview but unfortunately it stops to work when i use the Raw files utility whereas if i use the normal .raw(binary) format with extent 255 on all 3 dimensions i get a normal rectangular domain which is not what is present atleast as far as i know! So, is this by default giving me a random rectangular domain? Not sure what really is happening!! So, any idea regarding this!! Saideep |

Hi,
as far as I know the *.raw format is not standardized, it's rather set of similar formats that differs a lot between the various camera manufacturers. I'm therefore proposing to consult the manufacturer or documentation of the camera that was used for the CT scans. There's probably a custom programs that's able to read the files and convert them to the usual image formats (e.g *.png or *.jpg). These image files can then be processed as suggested in the previous posts. Cutter |

hi guys;
Thanks for that!! It is a bit new for me. Actually i am using a test case uploaded online and have this .raw file. This file is from panasonic microCT scans. I will try as cutter also mentioned maybe to find a code that converts .raw of panasonic to other formats. -- But maybe this could be a bit funny from my end. I tried a lot online to atleast see how the image looks like but i failed numerous times. It just gives me "upload failed". In general do you know something for viewing the file online or in an open source viewer on 32bit. Thanks! Saideep |
