OF 1.6-ext Number of edges not aligned with or perpendicular to non-empty directions

hey guys,

i'm trying to simulate a piloted jetflame with OpenFOAM. First I used OpenFOAM version 1.7.1 and there i've got no errors after checkMesh.

But for a correct chemistry-model-function i have to use the version 1.6-ext. With this version i get with the same mesh the checkMesh error "Number of edges not aligned with or perpendicular to non-empty directions: 10904"

Additionally checkMesh shows a wrong aspect ratio: in version 1.7.1 it is something about 66 and in version 1.6-ext something about 500 in the mesh with least cells.

I hope anyone can help me. Thank you!
My operating system is Ubuntu 12.04 64bit
