Hello, everyone:

I wonder what software is the best to export .stl file which is used in openFoam.
The .stl file I need contain many patchs/regions with different names, but I don't know how to specipy it, The Catia sofeware can just export one solid. How Can I deal with it.

I've read what you need to do is create separate STL in ASCII format then you can edit them together into one STL file. The header part for each section then being used for the patch name.

This is something I've yet to try myself so I hope I'm not telling you garbage.

Thank you so much for your reply, I will try that. So there isn't any simple way to export it at one time.

Greetings to all!

Blender and Meshlab are the usual favourites for manipulating STL files.

Best regards,
Bruno

But Blender can not import .igs file which is not every convinient, right? And can blender specify different parts name and export .stl file at one time?

Both Blender and Meshlab can import STL. Then you can manipulate the STL and export in parts.

Ah, I had almost forgotten about this tutorial: http://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/Tut_andrew_blender - it's a bit outdated, since it was made when Blender was still on 2.49b, if I'm not mistaken.
