snappyHexMesh ignores refinement regions

2 Attachment(s)
Hello all,

I trying to add refinement regions to my mesh by using snappyHexMesh but for some reason it doesn't let me do that.

You can see my "blockMeshDict" and "snappyHexMeshDict" files attached.

I checked my "searchableBox" coordinates but nothing seems wrong.

Can you please help me to find the problem?

Thanks,

Greetings kilroy,

This tends to happen a lot with snappyHexMesh :( I personally end up not using layer addition by sHM and use refinement levels instead of layers.

Nonetheless, I suggest that you check the very useful presentation "A Comprehensive Tour of snappyHexMesh - 7th OpenFOAM Workshop (25 June 2012)" for more ideas: http://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/SnappyHexMesh

Best regards,
Bruno

Thank you very much for your reply Bruno. I found the problem now. It is because of my "blockMeshDict" file. I did a mistake with my vertices.

vertices
(
(-35 -0.04 -17.5)
( 55 -0.04 -17.5)
( 55 0.04 -17.5)
(-35 0.04 -17.5)
(-35 -0.04 17.5)
( 55 -0.04 17.5)
( 55 0.04 17.5)
(-35 0.04 17.5)

(-35 -0.04 17.5)
( 55 -0.04 17.5)
( 55 0.04 17.5)
(-35 0.04 17.5)
);

z-coordinate of the points above shown with red, should be zero.

After fixing that, my "snappyHexMesh" started working properly again :)

Sincerely,
Kilroy
