Hi guys,

I want to generate mesh with 20 million grid points using blockMesh. However, I tried for many times and I failed. I uses blockMesh and now it has taken for more than 5 hours, and the mesh is not successfully generated, I am still waiting..... Could you guys tell me is there a better way to generate big mesh using blockMesh? Thanks!

well you may want to generate your mesh with coarser mesh, then using refineHexMesh or refineMesh, to make it refine to the level you want
fabian_roesler, ripperjack and mgg like this.

refineHexMesh can also be run in parallel, so you could make a mesh with blockMesh, decomposePar, and then refine in parallel to your desired level.

How much RAM memory do you got on your machine? Probably blockMesh is eating everything, and evading to some swap-memory, which makes it terribly slow. If this is the case, try running on a machine with more RAM.
