Hi there,

I'm trying to get a grip on controlling sMH (OpenFOAM 2.1.0) to do what I want and so far I'm failing .

My goal was:
  • Mesh the simple cube
  • Use snapping (makes no sense in this rectangular case ofc)
  • see if i can undo the distortion that snapping causes with the surface feature extract.
A first test:
  • Snapping is turned of
  • Notice that resolveFeatureAngle is set on 95 so this does nothing
Result: refinements on some of the edges but not on all? I varied -includedAngle which and shouldn't and doesn't make a difference. Any idea on why I see these results?

You see the edge object, the mesh and the stl geometry in the enclosed picture.

Also the surfaceFeatureExtract doesn't fix the messy mesh which is created when the snapping feature is turned on. With which i'm not bothered to much but still if there is a clear reason for this I'm missing it.

Ah didnt have the nFeaturesnapIter set, this is what did not allow the feature command to "fix" the mess caused by the snapping procedure on the edges.

Fact remains that it is an asymmetrical refinement on a symmetric geometry. This still does not make sense to me.
