snappyHexMesh: non-manifold polymesh

Hi folks,

I'm using sHM to generate a mesh around some car geometry for aerodynamics calculations. However, due to defects in the input geometry, the resulting polymesh as a number of defects. Unfortunatly, my CFD knowledge probably is not strong engough to really judge how desasterous these defects are. I'd be very glad if you could give me some advice on this.

So, the polymesh has the following defects:

1. checkMesh reports a multiply connected region. The input surface is not properly closed in this region, so that sHM generates a mesh in the interior as well. Except from the fact that the resulting polymesh is not really a proper discretization of the domain, is this non-manifold configuration tolerable or will this spoil the results in one form or another?

2. checkMesh reports a max. face skewness of ~8 in ~20 faces. Is this still tolerable or should I be concerned about the exactness of the results?

Kind regards and thanks for your help,
