Dear all,

I am trying to use snappyHexMesh according to the cylinder case tutorial: https://sites.google.com/site/snappy.../cylinder-case
I can use FreeCAD to create a close cylinder and export it into .stl file format. But how can I get .stl file of an open cylinder.
Thank you in advance.

Hi,
Did you notice that there is a link in the page, where you can download all necessary files, including the stl files?
Best Regards,
Paulo

Hi, Paulo,
Thank you.
I have found a way to create the stl file for an open cylinder.
I create a cylinder geometry using FreeCAD and save it as an stl file.
Then I open the stl file and delete the faces normal to z-direction by hand.
But I want to know whether it is possible to get and save an open cylinder directly using FreeCAD.

Hi,

I don't know about FreeCAD, but this can be done directly in Salome (explode to faces, select side face, export to STL).

STL surfaces need to be closed for meshing though. So what are you really trying to achieve?!
