Hello everyone,

First of all thanks for the huge amount of information available on this forum, it helped me to be introduced to this amazing software.

I want to create a beach in order to prevent reflected waves in my numerical tank. In order to have the specific shape, I use the snappyHexMesh tool to import my .stl file.

My tank is devided in three blocks, water, surface layer and air. My beach get across these three blocks in order to have a good accuracy of the wave breaking.

When I want to check the mesh without the beach, every thing is good but when I run snappyHexMesh and then paraFoam, I can see that most part of the previous mesh disappeared and the mesh is focused close to the beach.
I checked several time the .stl and snappyHexMesh file and everything seems to be good.

My supervisor told me that he faced this kind of problem but he didnt managed to find a good reason why this problem occured.

If any of you have ever faced this problem, let me know

Cheers,

Max

Hi Max,
Welcome to the forum
Could you post one or two images of your mesh to illustrate your issue?
Regards,
Eloïse

Hi Eloise,

Sorry for my late answer,

I fixed the problem by adding more cells to my .stl shape.

For those who want to create a simple shape and then import the .stl file to openFoam, the free software OpenScad is very good, easy to handle and well documented with OpenscadWiki.

Cheers,

Max
