[Commercial meshers] Gridgen tandem aerofoil boundary conditions, reference values

Default Gridgen tandem aerofoil boundary conditions, reference values

I'm quite new to gridgen I am meshing two aerofoils in tandem and exporting into Fluent. I wanted to know how to set boundary conditions of like wall1 and wall2 on each aerofoil? At the moment when I set the boundary conditions it just sets the the two surfaces as one boundary condition in fluent.

Also I was wondering what reference values you use for your Area and length if you do use one bc for both aerofoils? Is it the combined length and area per unit depth? I am doing 2d.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

To get the airfoil elements into their own BC you need to create custom BCs. Go to Analysis S/W (a) > CustomBCs Create (c). Give a Name (n), e.g. main-element, set Type to Solid (s). Do the same for the other(s).

FYI, this isn't a problem in Pointwise (our newer) software. In Pointwise you can assign both names and ASW-specific BC types to groups of domains.

In my experience the reference length used for multi-element airfoils is the chord length of the full airfoil. So the answer is yes, "it is the combined length and area per unit depth.
