Hi Foamers!
I have a problem in creating the Boundary Layer on an airfoil geometry with SHM.
The castellated and snappy phase are ok whereas "addLayers " results in no layer added. Could someone help me?

Yes I did it but no layer is added... I also changed the exp ratio to 0.1 to have a greater avg thickness.

I would suggest you to stick with the default parameters and then change only one of them at a time. Every time remember to get rid of every file mesh related.

For example, you set

expansionRatio 0.1;

and there's no point to me in setting this for an airfoil:



/------------------------------------------ Layer 3
| c
|
/------------------------------------------ Layer 2
| b
/------------------------------------------ Layer 1
|_a_______________________________
/////////////////////////////////////////// Wall


expansionRatio = c/b = b/a

The layers should grow in height when moving away from the wall. In your case they are getting smaller.

Also

finalLayerThickness 0.1;

doesn't make much of a sense to me…

Do you need snappyHexMesh? If feasible for your airfoil you could use my little airfoil mesher, found here: http://hvirvel.dk/airfoilmesher/

@Andy: Seems like the server for the worldofkrauss website is having bad luck. You can find some information here: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...3#post22118311 - it seems it was up again in July, but went down again now in August.
