Creating an openfoam mesh for paraview using openfoam designer?

So far I tried this much.

I used the template called cavity inside the icofoam folder and copied it to a folder called CFD.

I then tried to create the mesh by doing

mesh utilties->generation->blockmesh-> right click and start

which generates these files inside of constant/polymesh/

boundary, faces, neighbour, owner, points

now I'm not sure how to generate a .foam file to open in paraview, any ideas?

I did try using the echo command in windows as this thread says and then tried opening it with Paraview but then it crashed.

Hi,

Regarding your question "now I'm not sure how to generate a .foam file to open in paraview, any ideas?", if you are still interested take a look here:
http://www.fm.energy.lth.se/fileadmi...rExercise1.pdf

go to page 10.

Simply, you have to create an empty file with *.foam (or *.openFOAM depending what version of ParaView you have on computer) extension in your case folder.

For OpenFOAM under Windows, you can download version OpenFOAM 1.5 installer from here:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/openfoam-mswin/

Quick answer: There are much more recent ports of OpenFOAM for Windows: http://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/Windows
