Improving meshes, possibly with Mesquite?

I'm currently wondering if there are any tools that can be used to improve meshes in OpenFOAM, for example by using smoothers or by rotating faces to decrease non-orthogonality.

I know that Mesquite is said to be quite capable for things like this, but it seems to work with VTK files from the short look I took at it. When I use foamToVTK I get lots of single files for the mesh and the boundaries, but I don't really know how to go on from here.

Do I need to write my own code using Mesquite like in the user guide, or can I use one of the example tools?

Are the boundaries of the mesh preserved? This would be quite important to me, as the geometry is complex and generating the boundaries by hand in OpenFOAM is very tedious.

Are there any other known tools that work with OpenFOAM and can perform individual mesh optimization algorithms?
