Hi all,

when i want to visualize the mesh in patchTool after loading a few patches i get the following massage in the terminal:

The model is about 1 GB and i have over 6 GB memory in my mashine.

Can someone tell me what is going wrong?

With best regards,

Java needs prespecified the maximum amount of memory it can take. Look at the patchTool script.

(and a warning: PatchTool is not very nice to use)

Thanks for your help. What tool do you use to extract single patches?

I don't know where to look, can someone tell me where i can change the amount of memory used by patchTool? I am running it on a 64 bit OpenSuse 10.2 system, on the Ubuntu 32 bit system (same machine) i don't have the problem.

Hi Daniel,
You may try to use the autoPatch utility, and then rename the generated patches.

I found an old discussion at memory limit, and they show 2 options for the jvm... still seems there are problems. Basically one option is -Xmx4000m, and lets you allocate as much heap as you want (in this case I chose 4000MB).

Thanks for your reply. autoPatch is to primitive, i'm using it together with patchTool, when i leave the patches created by autoPatch (with an angle of 60°) i have around 100. At the other hand i have to group them to calculate forces on a group of patches.

I will try the memory limit thing.
