Hello,

does anyone know how to load within Salome a mesh coming from Star CCM+ (.ccm, .case, .fvuns, .plt, .cel, .sbd, .ntl, .trn)?

Thanks.

Paraview (and VTK?) has a vtkProStarReader that should properly handle PROSTAR cel/vrt format, which you can also export from STARCCM.
I don't know though if this reader has made its way into the particular VTK version that Salome is using.

indeed I can load in Paraview a file coming from PROSTAR, but if export it (.pov, .vrml, .x3d, .x3db), then I cannot load it into Salome (only .dat, .med, .stl, .unv, .sauv) to work the mesh.

I have actually the same kind of problem with the geometry that I cannot export as iges or stp with starccm+.

Hi,

but if you can load it into Paraview you should be able to export/write as STL-file, so at least you could load a STL-file into Salome.

Or maybe Meshlab can do the converting from those mentioned (.pov, .vrml, .x3d, .x3db) into a STL-file

What about CGNS, isnīt CGNS HDF5 based and Salome "Med-file" is HDF5 as well

I checked Salome 6.4.0 the GEOMETRY modul can import ACIS (*.sat). BREP (*.brep), IGES (*.iges, *.igs), STEP (*.step, *.stp)
MESH modul can import&export DAT, UNV, MED, STL, CGNS and SAUV
kid likes this.
