[snappyHexMesh] how to use snappyhexmesh to generate 2D mesh?

Dear Foamers,

I would like to run a 2D simulation for a wing-shape geometry, how could I do that with snappyhexmesh?

the refinement level will cut the background in 3D, how to allow it in 2D only?
and is that possible to refine a area, such as level 2, with refineMesh dict with automatic buffer layer generation?

Look at cfmesh instead for 2D

Picture taken from their userguide.
They also have tutorialfiles for making a 2D mesh.

Even better if the geo is simple make it a structured mesh using Salome.

Hi,
snappy is not a good idea for 2D, as you have pointed out, it refines in 3D allways.
The solution is to use blockMesh to generate 2D structured mesh (see:

and:
https://github.com/OpenFOAM/OpenFOAM...b2434eb3e2c4ed)
or you may try unstructured foamyQuadMesh. see tutorials in $FOAM_TUTORIALS/mesh/foamyQuadMesh
