Hello foamers,

I am interested in the flow coming inside a tube through a reed valve. I have been having a lot of trouble on running two-way FSI simulations on this topic, so I thought I would try to do the following:
- using a steady solid solver, calculate the displacement of the valve
- export the valve deformed mesh as a STL with surfaceMeshTriangulate or something similar
- use this STL along with another "fixed wall + outlet + inlet" STL defining the rest of my geometry as an input for snappyHexMesh
- solve the fluid with a steady/transient compressible solver

My approach is different from the few FSI cases that I've seen so far: I don't want to deform my mesh, but rather to generate my static mesh on a deformed geometry.

Currently I am having trouble defining my CAD geometry. Both my fluid and solid surfaces are manifold, but is it possible to assemble them together by specifying a common face? Or will SHM return an error? Could you please tell me how to do this?

If any of you has some advice for me it's most welcome! Thank you for your help!

Florian
