skewness in checkMesh

Hi,

itīs a short question:

Can somebody explain, what "skewness" mean in checkMesh? I know orthogonality and aspect ratio. But skewness......

Thanks

Hi Sebastian,

Skewness is a measure for grid quality; it tells how skewed (i.e. "non-straight") your cells are. There are several ways to calculate it, have a look at this presentation by Andre Bakker for some explanation.

Hi,

Ideally the calculated flux between two cells goes through the center of the intermediate face. But in most cases your cells are not ideal (have nonOrtho and so on), so there is a distance between the linear flux and the face center which is called "skewness". See H.Jasaks PhD for detailed information.

PS: skewness in Fluent is a different thing.
