Dear All,

I am trying to use OF to simulate the blood flow in the vessel with an aneurysm after the stent is deployed. But I am stucked with the mesh generation... Currently I have both the vessel and the deformed stent surface mesh(in .stl file), anybody has idea how to merge the two meshes and then generate proper volume mesh?

Many thanks!!!!

I doubt that this will be possible "out-of-the-box" from within OpenFOAM.
Where did you get the data from?

Ok, lets do some brainstorming:
What about importing the stl-files into a CAD software, merge them and export again as stl?

Hi, Sega,

Thanks for your reply. The data is from CT image reconstruction, do you think this mesh merging can be done with CAD, as the stent need to be attached inside the vessel wall...

Thanks!

I'm no expert in CAD, but with my version of Autodesk Inventor it was not possible to import STL files.

But I'm sure there are import/export plugins available.
Maybe even SALOME is fit for something like that right from the start?!

If this will lead to a solution I can't tell.
