Dear FOAMers,

FluiDyna releases version 1.1 of Culises, the library for GPU-based acceleration of OpenFOAMŽ. Features include highly efficient state-of-the-art iterative solvers like AMG and full support for the usage of two GPUs in a single compute node, including the latest NVIDIAŽ TeslaŽ K40 GPU Accelerators.

An early bird discount of 35% applies for all orders of regular annual licenses and quarterly test licenses until April 30, 2014. Licenses for academic and non-commercial use are available with an additional discount of 50%. Additionally, a discount of 35% on the retail price applies for all NVIDIAŽ TeslaŽ GPUs purchased in a bundle with an annual license of Culises.

Our fully pre-configured GPU server FluiDynaŽ Hurricane K40 S with 2 NVIDIAŽ TeslaŽ K40 GPUs, 2 annual licenses of Culises and pre-installed OpenFOAMŽ is now available at an introductory price of only 12,990 Euro plus VAT. The corresponding GPU workstation FluiDynaŽ Hurricane K40 W is available at 13,890 Euro plus VAT.

Testing of Culises is possible free of charge on our purpose-built workstation. Available slots and additional information about testing and licensing can be found on our website.

Culises is not approved or endorsed by OpenCFD Limited, the developer of the OpenFOAMŽ software and owner of the OpenFOAMŽ and OpenCFDŽ trademarks. OpenFOAMŽ is a registered trademark of OpenCFD Limited, a 100% subsidiary of the ESI Group.

Where can we download Culises? If it is a library for OpenFOAM, it is open source, correct?

Thank you for asking for clarification.

Culises is a proprietary, general-purpose library for solving systems of linear equations on GPUs, developed by FluiDyna GmbH. As such, the library is neither based on nor limited to OpenFOAMŽ and could basically be used to accelerate the solution of the linear system of any arbitrary application.
Though, users of OpenFOAMŽ will currently benefit most from the acceleration capabilities of Culises, as our main professional expertise besides GPU computing is in the area of CFD.

If you have further questions, please don't hesitate to contact us personally via culises@fluidyna.com.

OpenFOAM is an open source collection of applications and libraries for CFD, owned by the OpenFOAM Foundation. As such, OpenFOAM is neither based on nor limited to the library of Culises and could basically be used for solving problems in any application in CFD without Culises.

But if Culises is distributed as a library for OpenFOAM, the combination of OpenFOAM and Culises must be licensed under the GPL, so the source code of Culises must be made available, meaning it too must be open source.

Thank you very much for your kind reply.

As already mentioned above, please don't hesitate to contact us personally if you have further questions. That may of course also include the existing full compliance of Culises with the GPL when the library is used in combination with OpenFOAMŽ.
