For people who want to receive email copies of all new messages that are posted in the OpenFOAM forums there is a new email functionaility that you can use. The following read-only mailing-lists are available:
Please note that the mailing-lists are new and we hope that they will work well. However, we might run into similar email performance problems as we had with the old DiscusWare based forum. If we get these problems we will disable the mailing-lists and let the forums run along without this email functionality. Last edited by pete; July 2, 2009 at 16:15. Reason: Edited to reflect the functionality correctly - see the discussion below |

That sounds strange. I just double checked the settings and the bugs forum is only set to forward messages to the openfoam-bugs mailing list, not to the general openfoam mailing-list. I will sign up myself to check.

Yep, you are correct. I'm subscribed to both lists now and also get dual copies of bug messages. Very strange and I'm confused about how this can occur. I'm sure there is a trivial misstake somewhere that I just need to find. I'll repost when I find the cause. Thanks for the bug report.

I'm used to this kinds of "bug" now. After I clicked the updated threads of "openfoam",it will also display the threads of "openfoam bugs".

Now I know what the problem is. The mailing functionality in vBulletin that we are using for the mailing-lists is active for the main OpenFOAM forum and that makes it also active for all sub-forums (bugs and news forums also). The simplest way to change this is to move all threads from the OpenFOAM forum to the OpenFOAM>OpenFOAM forum and turn off postings in OpenFOAM and activate postings in OpenFOAM>OpenFOAM. I'm not sure if this is what we want though.
Perhaps it is better to have one mailing-list (openfoam), which distributes all messages from all OpenFOAM forums, including the bugs and the news forums. Anyone who wants to receive all posts from the other OpenFOAM forums will also likely want the bugs and the news forums. Then we can have two smaller mailing-lists for the bugs and the news forums for those who only want those. What do you think? |

If they all get sent from the same mailer & header can we still filter on where they come from? I do want to be able to put them into three separate folders.

The subject contains the sub-forum each message was posted to, so you can filter the emails based on that.
