Short course: Modeling of Water Resources and Environmental Problems using OpenFOAM
Sorry for cross posting.

There will be a one-day, low-cost short course on the open source modeling platform OpenFOAM. It is arranged before the ASCE EWRI 2012 Congress. Here is the information about the short course. Thanks and hopefully see you in Albuquerque, New Mexico this May.

This short course will focus on its application in water resources and environmental areas. However, it applies to general audience as well.

When: 8am-4pm, Sunday, May 20, 2012 (before the ASCE EWRI 2012 Congress)
Where: Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA
Cost: $245 (ASCE Member)/$275 (non Member). You don’t have to attend the conference to take this course.
Instructor: Xiaofeng Liu, Ph.D., P.E., University of Texas at San Antonio,

This short course aims to introduce the open source computational fluid dynamics (CFD) platform, OpenFOAM®, to the environmental and water resources community and to foster collaborations. OpenFOAM® is a computational toolbox which solves physical models (differential equations) using finite volume method. This short course is tailored to be suitable for an audience at various levels (from beginners to experienced code developers). We will demonstrate its usage in a variety of applications, including hydraulics, sedimentation, waste water treatment, groundwater flows, buoyant flows, etc. Knowledge of C++, object-oriented programming, and parallel computing is not required but will be helpful (at least for high level model developers).
