Hi,

How can I open fluent output files .dat and .cas files in paraview?

Furthermore how can I view streamlines around the object under study..

Its much easier to use export>solution_data>encase_gold in fluent. Once you select data that need to exported a .encas file will be created along with the data you requested.
Just change the .encas to .case and read directly in to Paraview.

Thanks that worked for me. Moreover, how can I slice a plane and view streamlines or vector plots on that plane.

Slicing option is available which is pretty straight forward. For Stream lines also direct option in tool bar is available but it is a bit different from Fluent. Vectors are called Glyphs here.
