I use since some months paraview. I want to use greek symbols in the toggle color legend. Should I use a special syntax ore must I install a package?

Here's what I found out:

• This has been debated in the past and is now present as a "uservoice" request here: http://paraview.uservoice.com/forums...-and-axis-text - it's the top voted request: http://paraview.uservoice.com/forums/11350-general
• This was asked several years ago here: http://www.mail-archive.com/paraview.../msg04346.html - several answers follow it, but no definite solution, except for image manipulation or placing one on the visual environment.

edit: Nonetheless, this seemed to have been introduced into VTK back in 2009: http://www.vtk.org/cgi-bin/gitweb.cg...ec5e174058bf34 - but it doesn't seem to have been brought to ParaView.

Some of the major fixes are:
- Math-text in annotation: ParaView 3.98.0 introduced support to add annotations with math-text. This release extends on that capability to support math-text in several annotations including Text source, chart titles, scalar bars. Simply use $<math-text>$as the text to use. Anything within the $...$ symbols will be treated as math-text and rendered using matplotlib.

I haven't tested this yet, so I don't know to what extent this will work.

1. Paraview version 4.1.0 64bits

I downloaded Paraview from wget http://downloads.sourceforge.net/pro...arty-2.3.0.tgz

then I compiled OpenFoam and the Paraview with ./makeParaView4 and then I do:
cd $FOAM_UTILITIES/postProcessing/graphics/PV4Readers
wmSET
./Allwclean
./Allwmake

3. For using this feature I put the symbols between dollar signs when I want to include a text or a legend, is it supposed to be like this?

Hi Heliana,

Sorry for the late reply, but only today did I finally manage to look into this.

The detail is that since this feature requires "matplotlib", this means that you need to build ParaView with the Python integration.
Therefore, either:

• You need to install the pre-built version of ParaView 4.1.0 or 4.3.1 that is available at http://paraview.org
• Or you re-build ParaView 4.1.0 with Python support, since you're using OpenFOAM. In this case, I don't know which Linux Distribution you're using, but you can find dedicated installation instructions that include this support: http://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/In...OpenFOAM-2.4.0 - for example, for Ubuntu: http://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/In...M-2.4.0/Ubuntu
