Hi,
I am new-comer to OpenFoam. I had the following questions:
ParaFoam does not work in my PC. As I write ParaFoam in terminal to open the cavity data, it writes this message: A reader for cavity.OpenFoam can not be found. If I select one type of readers, paraFoam closes. Would you please help me?

Thanks,

A solution you can found in other threads and which works for me is to convert the data in VTK format, with the "foamToVTK" utility. It creates a VTK directory where you can write the instruction paraview to visualize the results.

Dear Eric,

Thanks a lot. It worked. Would you please a little explain me what is the VTK format? Did you use tecplot for viewing openFoam results as well?

Sincerely,
Ehsan

Actually, i don't know very much the VTK format except that it allows me to use the paraview tool. I had found this solution on this forum. I think that the problem with paraFoam comes form the PV3FoamReader but i never found a solution (i haven't serached a lot...).
I don't use tecPlot.

Hi,

Thanks. The problem that I currently have is to how export the paraview pictures to common formats such as bmp or jpg or how to insert them in a word file? Could you please help me in this way as well? The export option in paraview exports in a specific format and I don't know what softwares can read this format

Hi Ehsan,

In ParaView you can select the timestep in your simulation of which you want the picture. Then, go to the "File" file dropdown menu and choose "Save view image". With that function you can save the current view in ParaView in .bmp and .jpg formats. This menu option works in ParaView 2.4 and I am pretty sure it works in a similar way in 3.3, perhaps the functions are in a different place and with a different name.

Regards, Gijs
