Hello. I'm currently workin

I'm currently working on the basic dam-break-problem. To compare my results with the experiment (Martin & Moyce, 1951) I need to "track" the flood front traveling along the bottom of the case geometry.

Unfortunately the user guide does not give an overview about how to plot data over time.
Actually the user guide is rather "thin" about post-processing at all.

I think the flood-front is simply the volume surface given by gamma=0.5 (or some value between 0 and 1).
All I have to do is to compute the position of gamma=0.5 at the bottom of the case-geometry and plot it over time.

Does anybody have an idea how this could be done?

Get the value of gamma in the
Get the value of gamma in the cells at the bottom bed by using the sampleDict utility:

Thus the "samples" directory is generated, where you will find (at every instant of time) the value of gamma along the bottom bed.

You can then load the data with the software you best and find out the cells where the transition gamma=1 to gamma=0 occurs.

It works pretty well.

But I have figured out an easier way.

I created a contour-filter for the gamma-field using an intermediate value of gamma=0.5

In the Information-Tabular you can read the values of gamma=0.5 in the bounds-box.

Therefore you don't have to do sampling and have to look up in the sample files!

I did a quick review of my dam
I did a quick review of my dam break case.

The last time I did the calculation I did it the way Patricio suggested.
Looking up the transition zones in the sample directories for each timestep.

Is there a way of doing this automatically for each timestep?

I can remember there has been a similar question in one of the forum, but I can't find it at the moment.
