Hi
I've been having some trouble creating animations using paraview 1.8.5. The image stays on the first time step. I'd appreciate it if someone could point me in the direction of a tutorial or something that covers this or maybe explain the correct procedure. Do I need to create a 2-d cut plot? I'm running Vector Linux 5.0 SOHO (Based on Slackware 10??) on a Pentium 4.

Also I noticed there's an updated release of paraview(ver. 2.2). Can I install this over/in place of 1.8.5? will I need to update any environment variables,or Paths etc.

Finally, any comments on what you guys think is the best combination of pre-processors/mesh generators, mesh-converters, and post-processors paraview/opendx?

Thanks in advance for any tips.

My experience is that the ParaView that comes with 1.1 has this problem (I think there is even a similar report somewhere on the Message Board)

I either use the ParaView that came with 1.0.1 for animations or I use foamToVTK to convert the data and use the most recent ParaView (2.2).

I had the same problem the other day. You could try unchecking the 'cache geometry' checkbox at the bottom of the animation interface.

You can install paraview 2.2, but then you will not get the nice features of 'paraFoam' which needs a recompile of the full paraview source code, and it is not guaranteed that it will work due to possible syntax changes. Another option is to just install the binary version and use foamToVTK to convert your results to the format natively supported by paraview.

Thanks for the info guys

I'll be looking forward to the 1.2 release, but in the mean time I'll try using 2.2 and the foamToVTK converter.

Cheers
